The Holiday for the Broken Hearted (and Hungry)
Single? This is your day.
It’s Black Day
Didn’t get a Valentine? Ghosted on White Day? April 14th is the unofficial holiday for singles to gather and commiserate over black food.
Jjajangmyeon (짜장면)
The official food of the day. It’s hearty, cheap, and smothered in “Chunjang” (black soybean paste). It’s the ultimate comfort food for the soul.
Paint it Black
Hardcore participants go all out, wearing head-to-toe black clothing. It’s a visual signal: “I am single and ready to eat.”
Sad? No, Solidarity!
It sounds depressing, but it’s actually a blast. Singles unite. It’s a celebration of friendship and freedom (and carbs).
No Couples Allowed
This is a “No PDA” zone. It’s a rare day where being single is the dominant culture and couples are the outcasts.
Stay Black
After the noodles, the tradition continues with black coffee. No milk, no sugar. Just bitter caffeine to match your bitter heart (kidding!).
A Twist of Fate?
Paradoxically, Black Day meetings often lead to new connections. Bonding over mutual singleness is a great icebreaker.
Single and satisfied
