The Safe Zone Battle
Slide 1

The P.E. Warzone 🏐πŸ’₯

In America, dodgeball is a game where one team throws a ball at another team to eliminate them πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ.
In Korea, 피ꡬ (Pigu / Dodgeball) is a terrifying, highly strategic game of survival that features a terrifying concept: The Outer Box! πŸ“¦
It is the undisputed king of schoolyard gym class! πŸ‘‘
Slide 2

Nowhere to Hide πŸ‘€

A standard Pigu court is purely claustrophobic 😨.
Team A is entirely trapped inside the massive center box (The Inner Zone) πŸ“¦.
Team B entirely surrounds them on all four sides from the exterior boundary (The Outer Zone) 🚨!
Team B’s only goal is to hurl the ball into the center to violently eliminate the players inside! 🎯
Slide 3

The Undead Attackers πŸ§Ÿβ€β™‚οΈ

Here is the genius of Korean Pigu: Nobody sits on the bench! πŸͺ‘πŸš«
If you are hit while inside the center box, you do not physically leave the game! You immediately teleport to the “Outer Zone” and join the firing squad πŸ”«!
As the game progresses, the center box loses players, but the outer border gains a massive, angry army of snipers throwing the ball inward! 🏹
Slide 4

The Crossfire βš”οΈ

You cannot just blindly throw the ball at the center πŸ™…β€β™‚οΈ.
The best tactic is to violently pass the ball back-and-forth completely over the heads of the trapped inner players to your teammates standing on the opposite outer boundary πŸ”„.
This creates a terrifying horizontal crossfire, forcing the inner players to constantly turn their backs, inducing absolute panic and dizziness! πŸ˜΅πŸ’«
Slide 5

The Shield πŸ›‘οΈ

In American dodgeball, catching the ball brings a dead teammate back to life πŸ§Ÿβ€β™‚οΈ.
In Korean Pigu, catching the ball simply grants your team possession of the weapon πŸ—‘οΈ.
However, the few brave students willing to risk broken fingers to physically catch a ball moving at Mach 3 instead of simply dodging it are treated like absolute, mythological gods by their terrified classmates! πŸ‘‘πŸ™Œ
Slide 6

Protect the Face! πŸ›‘

Korean P.E. is violent, but it has strict physical boundaries πŸ“.
The most sacred rule: “Headshots are illegal!” (ν—€λ“œ 파울) πŸ‘€πŸš«
If you throw the ball and it strikes an opponent anywhere above the shoulders (head or face), the person hit is perfectly safe, and the thrower absolutely loses possession of the ball! It prevents brutal injuries! πŸš‘
Slide 7

Do Not Touch the Chalk! 🚨

The entire game relies on the physical border! 🧱
It is called the “Line Foul” (금 밟기 / Geum-babgi). If an attacking outer player throws the ball while any microscopic fraction of their shoe is touching the white chalk line marking the center box boundary, the throw is completely invalid! ❌
Opposing teams will brutally argue over whether a shoe grazed the dust! πŸ—£οΈ
Slide 8

The Corporate Battleground πŸ‘”βš”οΈ

Pigu never truly leaves the Korean psyche! 🧠
At modern corporate retreats (MTs), adults will furiously revert to middle-school aggression, playing a ruthless game of Pigu on the grass to bond the company! 🏒
After the sweaty, violent crossfire, nothing unites the department quite like a heavy, icy, restorative bowl of JS Brewery Makgeolli 🍢!
Slide 9

The Last Survivor πŸ₯‡

Could you survive being trapped in a tiny chalk square while 15 enemies threw rubber balls at your shins? Are you a “Diva” who hides, or a “Hero” who catches the ball? πŸ›‘οΈπŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ Let us know! πŸ‘‡
